Why are so many amazed and surprised that others—those from foreign cultures and humble circumstances are friendly, open and welcoming to us when we are willing to meet them? In fact, it is the way of the world. Perhaps our own country is where citizens are less trusting and skeptical toward those who are “foreign” ?
Loved that, and why does it make me weep? Because it was simple and true? Because it so poignantly shows that we humans all share the basic values of home and family? Because I’ll never meet that woman or her daughter, sit by their fire, meet their goat? Thank goodness you did.
